"Here in the west we are graced with the presence of trumpeter swans. They regularly fly over my house, sometimes a solitary swan and sometimes in groups. I like to use this layered approach when expressing both depth and motion in my subject matter. It is essentially two separate paintings, one overlapping the other, and takes quite a bit of planning."
