Pat McNabb Martin

The raw and free flowing nature of her current pieces has evolved over time. Her early paintings reflect an obvious influence from her time as a graphic designer and architect. In those pieces she uses bold, graphic colors and clearly defined shapes. Those paintings seem to act as a bridge between her old career and her new, less restrictive career. As Pat has settled into her new function as a creator in the fine art world, her work has become much more expressionist and apparently rooted in the natural landscapes that inspire her. Pat’s more recent pieces range from her unique three-dimensional canvases, to textured landscapes both terrestrial and otherwise, as well as impressive canvas creations that appear to be textiles hanging in free form. The common technique that ties all her pieces together is that her brush never actually touches the canvas, giving an overall organic feel to her creations.
